Echo Privacy Policy
Developer: Viento
Effective: October 22, 2026
In short
Echo records voice notes and turns them into text on your device. Recordings, text and settings are stored only on your phone. We do not receive them, we do not collect any data about you and we do not show ads. The app has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising identifiers.
What the app stores
The app stores on your device:
- audio recordings that you made or added yourself;
- the text recognized from the recordings and any edits you made to it;
- folder names, pins, reminders, your rules for sorting notes and app settings;
- background images you picked from the gallery: a copy is saved inside the app, so it stays even if you delete the original.
All of this is kept in the private storage of the app and is deleted when you delete a note or uninstall the app. A deleted note first goes to the trash inside the app and stays there for 30 days so you can restore it, then it is erased; you can also erase it from the trash at once. This data is not included in system cloud backups and is not transferred to other devices.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you are recording a note: while you hold the record button or after you lock the recording. A notification with a stop button is shown for the whole time of a recording. The app never records in the background on its own.
Internet
The app connects to the internet for one purpose only: to download the speech recognition model that you chose. Models are downloaded from the public repository huggingface.co. During the download that service, like any web server, sees your IP address and technical request data; its own privacy policy applies. No recordings, texts or identifiers are sent anywhere. Speech recognition itself runs on the device and works without a connection.
Files you add or export
- Import. The app reads audio or video files only when you pick them yourself or send them to Echo with Share. The file is processed on the device.
- Export and backup. Shared notes, text files and backups (including ones with audio) are created only when you ask for them and are saved where you choose. Backups are not encrypted, so keep them as carefully as the recordings themselves. What happens to a file after you save it or send it to another app is decided by that app and by you.
App lock
If you turn the lock on, entry is confirmed with your phone's screen lock: fingerprint, face or passcode. The confirmation is performed by Android. The app does not receive or store your biometric data or passcode.
Notifications
Permission for notifications is used to show an ongoing recording with pause and stop buttons and to show the reminders you set for your notes. Reminders are scheduled on the device and work without a connection.
What we do not do
No accounts or sign-up. No analytics and no advertising identifiers. No ads. We do not receive crash reports and do not share data with third parties. We do not sell or pass on your information, because it never reaches us.
Children
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Your rights and deleting your data
All data is on your device and you control it yourself: you can edit the text, delete the audio, delete notes (including from the trash) or uninstall the app, which erases everything it stored. Because we do not receive your data, you do not need to ask us to delete or export it, as we hold nothing to delete or export.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page and in the app, with a new date at the top.
